One note,
By analyzing the tables, Oracle defaults to cost based optimization instead of rules based optimization. This may or may not meet your needs. I personally have not been very impressed with the cost based optimization, and I use the rule based.
You can override the use of cost based optimization by setting the parameter OPTIMIZER_MODE to RULE in the init.ora file.
