If cost is really not an object try Database Excellators. These are very high speed Dram based SCSI devices which have no access time and can perform thousands of I/Os per second. They are battery and hard disk backed up. They can be mirrored like conventional disks. They have a demonstrated MTBF of over 1,000,000 Hrs.
