I am using Oracle 7.1.4.1.0 on SunOS. I have noticed that whenever Oracle creates a table or extends one, contiguous free space seems to be coalesced if possible to allow the operation to succeed. Dont know if this applies to other objects. Dont know about the impact of PCTINCREASE but I *think* that PCTINCREASE was 0 for the table and the tablespace.
