I haven't read all of your mail, but I strongly suggest that you should
upgrade to 4.5.6. I had many problems with 4.5.5.3.5 and 4.5.6.5.5 (from
Designer 2000 Rel. 1.2) (there is approx. 10 months between them) is
much better ( but far from perfect ).
I hope your problem will disappear.
