Arrays --- Retrieving from Oracle w/PL/SQL

In my VB app I have several arrays that I need to fill to subsequently load many dropdown lists. Rather that filling these as they are needed I am creating arrays by sending one PL/SQL stored procedure call that in effect loads the data for many arrays all at once at the server level and passes it back to VB. I am passing the array items back as a comma-delimited list and then parsing the lists up and creating the actual arrays when I get back to VB. Since Oracle doesn't currently support passing arrays as parameters I don't know of a better way to do this. Do you?
