IMO, The Oracle world has 3 ways in:

-Graduate from a a school like MIT or Stanford then go to the    school placement office.

-Get a job at an Oracle Customer and get OJT.

-Get experience with technology (say UNIX or networking or PCs) then    send your resume to Oracle.

A 4th door will get bigger in the years to come:

-Get connected to the web and download software from www.oracle.com    Then teach yourself. This would only work for learning some of their    desktop products. The real heart of Oracle is the RDBMS; I'm not    sure if you can get that off the web.

Once you get started in the Oracle world with some decent experience, you will be up to your eyeballs in work (if that's what you want).

I started working at Oracle back in 1987. I've been busy since. Right now, particularly, my consulting business is running RED HOT.
