Hi,
Would someone please give me a technical overview of Oracle's "rule-based" optimizer? I am a Sybase DBA and Sybase's optimizer is cost-base; so I am very interested to know how a "rule-based" optimizer work. What are the pros & cons of this optimization method, in terms of performance & maintenance overhead?
