SQL*net seems to be quite chatty and generate a lot of messages going back and forth. I would like to know what experience anybody might have in SQL*net performance over a slow network connection e.g. 64kbit/s TCP/IP connection!

Especially i would like to get comments to the following:

What/how big difference in performance is there between SQL*net v1 and v2 ?

Does anyone have experience if any of the existing alternatives to SQL*net like SequeLink, OpenLink, Visigenix etc. give better WAN performance in a Forms application ?

In Oracle magazine there was an article how Oracle has increased the network performance of 10SC by buffering reference data on the client for field validation and LOVs. How is this implemented ?

Putting stuff into stored procedures boosts network performance, but how could one manipulate cursors or return multiple rows from a stored procedure to the Forms client ?

Are there changes between Forms 4.0 and 4.5 that affect network performance ?

Any additional ideas worth looking into ???

Petri
