Hi Davis,

Could u please specify the problem in more detail? Maybe I could help u here.

(1) Your network setup -- is it a LAN or WAN? Do you use any dialups?
(2) The network protocol used -- TCP/IP, Namedpipes, IPX/SPX?
(3) The OS of the client - Windows 3.1, WFW 3.11?
(4) If TCP/IP is being used whose stack (FTP , SUN PCNFS, Netmanage, ...)
is being used on the client?

Diagnostics

(1) Have u started the V2 Listener on the server. Try "LSNRCTL START" in
a command shell at the NT Server. What happens?

(2) If using TCP/IP can you ping the NT server from the client? When you
install SQL*Net V2 TCP/IP you are prompted for the TCP/IP Vendor - what was your choice?

(3) If using Namedpipes can you see the NT Server from the client's FILE
MANAGER utility?

(3) Can u check if using the same connect string u can loopback on the NT
server using say SQL*DBA on NT. Update the TNSNAMES.ORA on the server
(location ORACLE_HOME\NETWORK\ADMIN) with the connect descriptor from the
client's TNSNAMES.ORA.

(4) To turn on SQL*Net V2 tracing for a client application change the
line in the SQLNET.ORA as follows :

   trace_level_client = 15

This generates a trace file called SQLNET.LOG (and of course slows things down a lot!) Received on Fri Dec 29 1995 - 00:00:00 CET
