when table was last changed?

is there a way to tell when a table was last changed (row updated, row deleted, row inserted, etc.)? in my application (MS Windows 16-bit MDI), when a "table-related window" is activated i'm trying to check if the table (or tables) have changed and offer the option to "refresh" the on-screen information for them. i don't have to know what changed, just that the contents of the table (or one of a group of tables) have changed in some way.
