The behavior is caused by your version of UNIX, not Oracle. Your V6 database appears to be on a BSD-flavored (ps -aux) UNIX system where ps does not show command arguments. Your V7 database is on a ATT System V-flavored (ps -ef) UNIX system where ps shows command arguments. The only recourse I know is to refrain from including passwords in command lines.
