Mark,
I think the issue is where the system thinks oracle_home is, usually in either C:\ORANT
or C:\ORAWIN on an nt workstation. I guess in a network installation it considers this
location to be <network drive letter>\ORAWIN.
The tnsnames.ora file is searched for in <ORACLE_HOME>\network\admin.
On the surface of it I don't see a way to have a local sql*net installation with a
There does not seem to be an entry in oracle.ini that points to where this file resides i.e: there is no reference (on my system) to C:\ORAWIN\network\admin.
