On Monday, December 11, 1995 our production database froze while our test and development databases were still up and running fine. We could not do anything in production except connect internal. I called oracle support but they didn't have any real answers of how to solve it or how it happened. In my alert log file I got this error message:

11-DEC-1995 17:04:55.67:
PMON failed to acquire latch, see PMON dump

So then I looked at the dump file and that error message said:

PMON unable to acquire latch 4070 session allocation 11-DEC-1995 17:04:55.57: Since I could not do anything I did a shutdown abort and luckily production started back up with a crash recovery. Everything seems to be fine now but I'm still curious as to what caused this problem to happen. If anyone has any ideas it would definitely be appreciated.

Thanx
