I'm in the same boat as you, except I have a little bit more DB experience (I've been working with Progress for a few years). The first thing I would suggest would be to get to a bookstore and buy "Oracle: A Beginner's Guide" by Michael Abbey and Michael Corey. It is chock-full of helpful information, though it so far seems a bit light on application programming. Keep reading this newsgroup. Find out if there's an Oracle User's Group nearby and go to it. Fire off questions to Oracle via e-mail (you can also fill out a form at www.oracle.com, someplace in the PO7/Win95 area), find a contact person to work with. They have been extremely helpful. Finally, remember that you have a Beta version and there are some bugs! Patience and perseverance will see you through.
