I'm planning on purchasing a 17 million record list of state registered vehicle owners, and will be using it primarily for selecting names based on vehicle and demographic data within the file for mailing purposes. I currently use FoxPro for a subset of this list which is approximately 3 million records. It is set up as a flat file in which I selectively process queries to pull names. I feel I might be stretching the limits of FoxPro with the added records. In addition, I would ultimately like to provide internet access to the file for counts and/or downloads. Is something like Oracle or Sybase the way to go, or is that overkill. I am an experience foxpro programmer, but have not gotten my feet wet in a real client/server database solution. Any suggestions?
