refering to a column by a variable

Hi,

I'm writing a program PRO*C.
In my database it is possible someone appends new columns to a table. What if my program does not know the name of the available columns and  the column i want to address until runtime? Is There a way to have a bind put the name in a variable and use this variable in a CURSOR to refer to the column? I hope you can help me, Thanks

ps. I don't know how many columns there will be.
