Replacement for v$instance

In Oracle 7.1.6 for Att Svr4 version there is a view  
v$instance which gives the startup day and time
for your instance.  I cannot find this view in 7.1.6 
for SCO or 7.1.4 for OS2.  Does anyone know 
where to find or how to calulate the startup time 
for an instance?
