Hi Helge,

Designer/2000 is great for doing this thing. You can reverse engineer almost everything from Oracle database to Designer repository and create graphical representation (diagrams) of your system. I did same thing and I am very happy with reverse engineering feature.

In RON (i.e. Repository Object Navigator), create your application, assign database to it and run reverse engineer. This will ask you for Oracle user name. After that it will display which objects types you want to reverse engineer. You can select all the object types and it will generate list of all objects present in database for that user. You can select all of these objects. With this, you can reverse engineer data structure, constraints, relations, procedures, packages, triggers, etc.

From these reverse engineered objects, you can create physical models for your database application in both report as well as graphical form.

You can also create logical model from this physical model by using retrofit feature. This model also has different set of diagrams.

An addition to this, you can also make changes in your model and repository can update your database structure according to changes you make in designer.
