We are considering two options for for Oracle 7.x database platforms.

Option 1 is to upgrade 7610 boxes to DEC 7710 (alpha) and increase their memory from 512K to 768K. But not that this type of memory is not compatible with option 2.

Option 2 is to trade-in the 7610 boxes for 8400s with perhaps 1Gb of memory.

The big question is how much main memory does Oracle really need? We are looking at 300+ simultaneous users with 2 large active databases plus a few smaller ones.
