For those who were wondering about the extension of support for Forms 3, Menu 5, and ReportWriter 1.1 until December 1996, here is a letter from Oracle WorldWide Support which explains the way this will work. Thanks, and good luck!!!

Oracle's Tools and Product Division and Oracle Worldwide Customer Support formally announce the extension of Customer Care Support for SQL*Forms 3.0/SQL*Menu 5.0 and SQL*Reportwriter 1.1 to December 31, 1996.

To assist Oracle customers who require continued software maintenance support for Oracle's SQL*Forms 3.0/SQL*Menu 5.0 and SQL*Reportwriter 1.1 while they complete their migration to the Oracle Developer/2000 suite of products, Oracle has extended Customer Care Support for these products from December 31, 1995, to December 31, 1996. Customers must be on the following releases of these products for continued software maintenance support:   

  SQL*Forms 3.0.16/SQL*Menu 5.0.11
  SQL*Reportwriter 1.1.14   

The Oracle7 revision 7.2 server bundles will be the last server bundles in which these SQL*Forms 3.0/SQL*Menu 5.0 and SQL*Reportwriter 1.1 releases will be included.   

Asian National Language Support versions of SQL*Forms 3.0/ SQL*Menu 5.0 and SQL*Reportwriter 1.1 will also continue to be released and supported through December 31, 1996.   

Extended Assistance Support for SQL*Forms 3.0/SQL*Menu 5.0 and SQL*Reportwriter 1.1 will be provided for 3 years after Customer Care Support ends to those customers who are unable to complete their migration to Developer/2000 before December 31, 1996. Customers must remain current on their software support fees to receive this service. Extended Assistance Support for these products provide for telephone and electronic support only, consisting of the following:   

     ?    Answering customer questions  
     ?    Providing workarounds, if possible  
     ?    Providing customers with migration path information  
  

Extended Assistance Support for these products does not provide for the following:   

     ?    Software error correction support  
     ?    Backporting of fixes  
     ?    Certification with supported products or newer operating   
          system releases  
     ?    Escalation Support or guaranteed response times or skill  
          availability  
  

Due to these limitations, Oracle strongly recommends that customers migrate the Developer/2000 suite of products as soon as possible to maintain the highest level of support for their products and systems.

   (*) Oracle MVS and VM customers have been notified of the    SQL*Forms 3.0/SQL*Menu 5.0 support program for their    platforms in a previous announcement and those dates have    not changed with this announcement. Extended Assistance    Support will be available for SQL*Forms 3.0/SQL*Menu 5.0 on    the MVS and VM platforms when their Customer Care Support    ends under the same conditions specified in this    announcement.      

   (**) SQL*Forms 3.0/Menu5.0 and SQL*Reportwriter 1.1 on    platforms which have announced the end of Customer    Care Support effective on or prior to Decemeber 31, 1996,    will end Customer Care Support on that same date. Extended    Assistance Support for SQL*Forms 3.0/Menu5.0 and    SQL*Reportwriter 1.1 on those platforms will be consistent    with the Extended Assistance Support for those platforms.      

Customer Action



No customer action is required to receive Customer Care Support or Extended Assistance Support for SQL*Forms 3.0/SQL*Menu 5.0 and SQL*Reportwriter 1.1. Customers must remain current on their software maintenance fees to receive these services.  

To request your upgrade to Developer/2000, U.S. customers should call (415) 506-1500 and route their calls to Customer Service. Select option 9 for Client Relations/Media Shipments, the select option 3 for Customer Service. Please note that support renewal charges will be based on the current pricing for Developer/2000.
