Hi everyone,

I am looking for some advices deciding on DBMS software.

We are going to implement a database on a WindowsNT based server. Novell will be used to network clients and the server.

We will have about 30 tables, and several of them (<5) will have up to 100,000 rows. Read accesses will be dominant (95%) from less than 10 users.

We also have to support a mobile version on laptops. Usually the laptops will run stand-alone. They will only be connected to the server to download necessary data. That means if Oracle workgroup is selected, a personal oracle will run on laptops. The database on laptop is quite small, maybe less than 10,000 rows in the largest table.

Any success story to run such kinds of databases on Oracle workgroup? I have heard that the performance of Oracle on Novell network was not so good. Does anyone know any improvement of Oracle?

Any help is welcome.
