Increasing the size of the SGA

I recently increased the SGA from 10240K to 15360K with the result that when
entering or leaving applications, core-dumps happened. The number of global
pages is set at 50000, so I assumed that I would not have to increase it.
In general, what are the considerations when increaseing the SGA on VMS systems ?. Should I have increase the number of global pages anyway ?
Any assistance would be gratefully received.
