"names.default_domain" applies only to resolution of database names by the Names server. If you're using a named domain (instead of ".world"), you do need to specify database.domain to connect. Check your tnsnames.ora file; you'll see that the service names are the fully-qualified names. I don't remember offhand if Netman allows you to create an alias for the full name. Check the manual.
