A simple test is a loopback on the HP. In other words, run a tool like sqlplus specifying a SQL*NET V1 connect string pointing back to the HP.

e.g. sqlplus scott/tiger_at_T:<hp nodename>:<oracle SID>

Also, run the command "tcpctl stat" on the HP to see the status of the TCP/IP listener (orasrv).
