To followup on a previous post:
There is a patch for Designer 2000 v1.0 that fixes some problems with the Reverse Engineering Utility. I received it from Oracle support and it has made life much better.
The patch fixes the problem of generatting DDL for objects owned other than SYSTEM or SYS on a remote database. This is also represented by the 'Tables...(0)' message in the reverse engineer status window.
