ORACLE installing by copying ?

We have an ORACLE V7.0.16.6.0 installed on a HP 9000/700 (HP-UX 9.0). A few
days
ago we got a HP K100 server (HP-UX 10.0) (binary compatible with the
HP 9000/700) and I thought about a simple way to get ORACLE and all our FORMS
applications on the new host.
I tried the following:
1. Shutting down the database
2. Copying all ORACLE files (database files, redo logs, binaries etc.) to the
new host.
However, when trying to open the database with dbstart I get the following error message:
SQLDBA> ORACLE instance started.
ORA-00205: error in identifying control file '/users/oracle/dbs/ctrl1hdb.ctl'
ORA-09782: sfifi: another instance has the same database mounted.
(the file /users/oracle/dbs/dtrl1hdb.ctl exists and has its mode bits set properly)
Any suggestions ? Received on Sun Sep 03 1995 - 00:00:00 CEST
