No more than 1 LONG in a table question

Anyone have any good ideas on how to get around this limitation?

Something other than just creating another table with the key and the other long attribute.

If I did this, would clustering help?

Any tried to physically implement a DOD standard table that has more than one long(9999 character text field) in an ORACLE7 database?

Real world experiences or rules of thumb would be most appreciated.
