If you use the emacs editor you may get the sql-mode made by Jim Lange from Oracle. Sql-mode offers among other features an interactive sql*plus session in an emacs buffer with all the general emacs editing facilities supplied with several special sql-mode facilities. As a long user of the sql*mode I can recommend it as a great enhancement of my sql editing environments.

Sql-mode and other useful modes can be retrieved from the elisp-archive mirrored in several sites.
