the Symmetric Replication feature for Oracle7 is not available unless you upgrade to 7.1.6.

i am testing and benchmarking right now for my client...it works pretty well with the exception that the docs were pretty flawed (they were beta docs, so it may have since improved) and a couple of minor bugs with adequate workarounds.

what are you using your mirrorred db for? Oracle will be offering a supported db synchronization server/feature in 7.3 using the existing technology of archive logs transferred and applied to the remote db to be sync'ed. that's really for shops needing very fast disaster recovery of their db's.
