: Do not use the Oracle "upgrade procedure". It is very crappy.
: Use export/import instead. Before you import the data into
: the 7.1 database you must recreate the tables with varchar2
: instead of char columns.
Not necessary-- import will convert CHAR to VARCHAR2; you'll have to recreate objects only if you want to move them to new tablespaces or allocations...
