Copying data between databases

I want to expand our current database and reduce the number of files that the data is spead out on . I decided, it would be easier to start from scratch and create a new database and then copy the information from the old database to the new one. There is there is a lot of junk on the old table that I don't want to copy.
Could someone tell me how to go about doing this. Also could you direct me to the location of the faq.
