Yes you can, but you have to use local or remote operating system authentication for host based or client-server connections respectively. The latter is not recommended if your machines aren't heavily firewalled (it is in the Sql*Net V2 manual & the Admin guide). By default these connection options are disabled in V2 (unlike V1 !:).
