I just completed an evaluation study for a large multinational client of mine.

Brio's BrioQuerry 3.1 suite (former DataPrism) for Mac and Windows is quite superb miles ahead of any other tool with the exception of GQL (rather expensive and sometimes not too intuitive but definately Rolce Royce for many sites). Brio costs $A 600 for individual licence and lets total database idiots query quite easily and intuitively. We have been using it as a user query tool and in development now for two years.

Another superb product is Brossco's Voyant (PowerMac / Mac only) ($A600) and you will thank me for letting you know about it when you try it's Oracle DB window and slick reporting.

Both need SQL*NEt and work very nice.
