Oracle and Lotus Notes integration

This is what he wants to know:

He is developing an order entry system with the back end being Oracle 7.0 on a HP Unix box. They are considering Lotus notes for the PC front ends. He would appreciate any comments from persons who have knowledge of a similar environment regarding:

1. How easy is it to implement the interface between Oracle and Notes.
2. What are the limitations, pitfalls, problems that one can face.
3. Is there a better alternative to Notes which has the necessary messaging and workflow capability.
