Incremental backup for Oracle

I work for a small development company. Several years ago, we wrote an incremental backup and recovery utility for the "ADABAS" database product which proved to be effective and reasonably popular. It worked at the disk block level, and for large databases, greatly reduced the time taken for a backup, and the volume of data backed-up.

I get the impression that such a facility is currently not available under Oracle 7, but I am not sure. Can anyone tell me whether block-level incremental backups are possible using a third party product, or have been announced/planned in a future Oracle release?
