dbwr timeouts occur normally in all Oracle databases as Vipin comments above. Your dbwr will timeout every three seconds with no other prompting by other kinds of activity, such as shadows scanning the SGA or checkpoints. When the dbwr times out, it scans the dirty list for blocks to write to disk.

You can ignore dbwr timeouts of any kind, they are only meaningful when compared to other stats such as dbwr free needed, dbwr low, which can some idea of how your dbwr activity is being driven, i.e. either by transactions occuring or by being idle. Received on Mon Apr 24 1995 - 00:00:00 CEST
