export to 8mm tape

Hi,
I am running out of disk space, and would be exporting all current
oracle data to a new disk. I read in the first pages of utilities
manual that export to tape is possible, though I could not use
FILE=/dev/rmt0/expdat.dmp
or /dev/rmt0.1/expdat.dmp
or /dev/rmt0 or /dev/rmt0.1
to work for me. I kept on getting export 00222, etc. errors.
Also, didn't find any sample example to show export to tape in
manual.
Has anyone used this before.
configuration:IBM RS6000 power 360 server,AIX 3.2.5,Oracle 6.0.37.1
