Did you run the root.sh script after the root portion of the installation. It sets a few of the setuid bits on a few of your binaries in ORACLE_HOME/bin for the Oracle RDBMS and SQL*Net processes. This script also tells some operating systems that Oracle has permission to use shared memory areas. I have run into this before and running the root post-installation scripts solved it.
