hi,

I have to use MS Access 2.0 to access a oracle database. It should not be a problem by means of ODBC.

Unfortunately, this oracle database contains some images which are inserted
by an Oracle Forms program. That means, those images are in so called ORACLE FORMAT! The problem is that I have no external viewer for this oracle format.

The only way to convert
oracle format to "normal format", such as GIF, TIFF or JFIF, is to use Oracle Forms build-in function "WRITE_IMAGE_FILE", but I have no idea how to call this function from MS Access.

One possible solution is to write a forms program which can display images from Access database. But I am not sure whether ODBC will support this solution.

So, my questions are:

  1. Is there any information available about this ORACLE FORMAT?
  2. Is it possible for a forms program to read an image stored in an Access database through and display it?
  3. Is there any way to convert ORACLE IMAGE FORMAT to "normal formats"?

Thanks for any helps.

Jian Zhou
