Please don't apply Software AG solutions to Oracle problems. Although long transactions present unique management problems in Oracle, they're possible along with many many many many.... other things which you CANNOT do with Adabas. I have been an Adabas DBA for a number of years and am now an Oracle DBA and can testify that you should forget every method you used with Adabas and rethink them when using Oracle.
