Haven't tried SLIP, but I successfully use a PPP connection with SQL*Net TCP/IP v2 for Macintosh. Whatever protocol you use, as long as the underlying transport layer is working properly, and the SQL*Net you're using is compatible with your vendor's protocol, it should work.
Call Oracle Technical Support and ask for the bulletin on using SQL*Net via a SLIP connection. It should help you.
