PowerPlay can run with it's own MDD or act as a client to MDD servers such as ESSBase. When PowerPlay uses it's own MDD you can deploy 'packages' to end-users using MS/Win or Mac who could be completely mobile or in locations that cannot easily/cost-effectively interact with a remote server. One key point about PowerPlay is that the information package drivers PowerPlay you do not have to program it.
