There are a number of good tools on the market that work with most serious DBMS products. S-Designor, System Architect and ERWin all have good reputations and generate DDL for a variety of backends. I personally can vouch only for ERWin, which allows maintenance of a library of templates for triggers and constraintss. It also has features that assist with reverse engineering and reengineering as well as cross-dbms conversions.
