Beware Solaris patch 101969-05 (or Later). It degrades TCP/IP performance and absolutely butchers SQL*Net TCP/IP performance.

We had miserable performance at first, but backing out this "patch from hell" did the trick. Oracle performance under Solaris 2.4 is noticeably bettar than under 2.3.
