re powerbuilder versus oracle forms

oracle forms are very closely integrated with the database. historically, oracle forms have tried to cover a wide range of platforms which results in limited functionality in any particular environment.

PowerBuilder is a Windows development tool intended primarily as the client end in a client-server environment. It is not closely coupled with the Oracle database which means more coding in order to get your application running, but it will be a windows app.

I have used both, and find both to be bug-ridden, and exhibit unexpected behaviours (features).

PowerBuilder is prettier, Forms is quicker.

PS You really cannot build any sort of windows app with PowerBuilder without resort to a very large number of Windows API calls. Received on Mon Mar 20 1995 - 19:23:14 CET
