Ending an Application

What is the best way to develop a way for a user to end the application; ie, logout of Oracle? I placed a "Exit" on the main menu, but do I select "SQL*Plus" or "PL/SQL?" Then, what statement(s) whould I use? I tried "exit;" but that does not work. I know that if I press Alt-F4, the menu will close-- possibly can I simulate this keypress?
