Memory is the key.
At work I have a 486-33 with 12M of memory. It is possible to run Personal Oracle, but it runs EXTREMELY slow with lots of disk activity. I can't run anything else while the database is running.
At home aI have a 486-33 with 32M of memory. What a difference. Load time is greatly reduced, I can run other applications, response is orders of magnitude better.
