The answers are Yes, and Yes.
We have a Novell Oracle 7.0.15 server with SQL*Net SPX 1.1.1.0 and a Sun Sparc 5 (??) with Oracle 7.1.?? with SQLNET 2 running. I can get to both machines seperately. To use db links, the servers probably both need to be running 7.1 I'm not for sure because at our sight, each server is seperate and houses one database for one application.
