We are using Oracle RDBMS V6.0.37.6.1 in a run time env as the DB engine for Interleaf RDM product and have run into a situation that I need some help with. Late yesterday we had to do a physical restore of the whole ORACLE directory on our SUN SPARC 20 running Solaris 2.3. This restore was from a tape made the night before with ORACLE still running. There was some minor database activity during the backup with one table of very many having about 30 records added during this time.

Now the problem. After the tape restore we are not able to start up the ORACLE process. The following happens:

the S100oracle script is run with the SQLDBA start force command.

Console messages are:

SQL*DBA Ver 6.0.37.6.1 production

ORACLE RDBMS V6.0.37.6.1 transaction processing option production PL/SQL V10.42.0.1 - production
