Based on the SQL*Net manual (as opposed to real exp.), V2.x and Multiprotocol Interchange will allow you to connect different protocols To quote [SQL*Net] 'using thethe Multiprotocol Interchange as an intermediary, applications on the client and server machines can communicate in spite of having no common transport protocol' (_Understanding SQL*Net_ V2.1, pg 1-4).

It allegedly supports most major comm protocols, including SPX/IPX and TCP/IP protocols.

Hopefully, some will respond with some true-life stories.
